Kostelec u Jihlavy

October 2013

This was my first serious trip around Czechia. The town Telc was chosen (or Telč, whichever is more convenient). I wanted, so to speak, to look at UNESCO world heritage, object № 621.
By tradition I'll tell how I got there. Had to buy a train ticket, had to ride long and make many transfers.

The train ticket cost about 160 crowns one way per person. We rode in the morning, but there's not much to photograph on trains - everything's familiar.
But still adventures happened :)

The very first train was 20 minutes late. We already started worrying, but it turned out all trains waited for us. By the way, one of the segments we rode standing - there were no seats. And so it happens.

Then an unplanned stop awaited us in the town this article is about - Kostelec u Jihlavy. Over the loudspeaker they announced something, but we didn't understand (only 1 month in Czechia back then). The train didn't go further.
We got off with everyone, thinking that further only we alone need to go - everyone else went somewhere into town.
We walked around the station for about 5 minutes, understood that something's not right - we're completely alone on it. Turned out the crowd didn't go into town - the crowd went to the bus that was replacing part of the train route.
There was track repair, so a couple stops had to be ridden by bus. We understood this by talking in extremely broken Czech with the conductor at the station.

Well, had to wait 2 hours for the next train - we went to walk around the most remote village you can imagine.

Roads are straight-straight, as if just laid.

Guess what kind of museum?

And this isn't a museum, this is a bus stop like that.

You don't even think this is Czechia.

And there are old houses here too.

Czech language as always pleases. And this is just a grocery store. Normal, unspoiled ones.
comment from 2022 - the language is funny, fucking hell, don't say bro, pity you stopped seeing this

And you don't even want to go back to the station :)

But have to

And while you walk - on the left water makes noise

On the right - pure field. Reminds of Windows XP

Some cleverly cut tree

Beautiful, in general, nature. But the station is a quiet horror.

Just like home :)

In general, waiting, in the end, got tiresome. We went to a person to ask how to get to Telč then. Well he laughed, said that tracks further are broken, needed to transfer to a free bus (provided by Czech railways). Turns out this is what they said over the loudspeaker. Should have, by the way, also read the route information on the website - it was also said there. But we didn't pay attention to details back then.

RZD - take an example. I remember when in Moscow they closed something for repairs - alternatives were rarely offered. Like, walk on foot, serf. Literally in summer 2013 at VDNKh I ran around and around - they closed the usual metro exit, and where what was moved to - unknown. Probably spent half an hour, got completely pissed off.

But, in the end, we did get to Telč. More than 5 hours (and we planned for 3), but nothing terrible.
