This article is 💩 mammoth shit
This means its value is not in informativeness, but in memory of how it was
There may be an update at the end of the article. Or there may not be.
I'll tell you about the dormitory where I live now.

At the end of summer I moved into a dormitory called "Kolej 17. listopadu", which translates as "dormitory 17th November". I'll try to tell you about it, and you'll learn in passing how and where approximately a Czech student lives.
This building opened in 1988. Actually, there are two buildings - A (20 floors) and B (16 floors). I live in block "A", so I'll talk specifically about it.
You can read about the dormitory, for example, here.
In this dormitory live mainly students from the Math-Physics faculty of Charles University, you can walk to its building literally in a couple of minutes. But not only students from other faculties can get a place, but also students from other universities.
The dormitory is located at Pátkova 3.
This is 15 minutes walk from metro "Nádraží Holešovice", or 5 minutes by bus 112 or 201. Also tram 17 stops 10 minutes walk away.
You can get to the center in 20 minutes.

The dormitory is located right next to the river, in a quite picturesque place. From the minuses, immediately - there's practically no infrastructure nearby. Also nearby is a highway, the Blanka tunnel is being built, so it's quite noisy around.
Students living in the dormitory have long since made a useful website - you can find almost all information there. There's also a Facebook group.
First, I'll describe the amenities that are in the dormitory.
There are rooms with ping-pong tables, a room with musical instruments, 2 large event rooms, a computer hall, a room with a large TV, a piano room, a study room. Of course, there are washing machines and clothes drying rooms.
Now a bit more about the living spaces.
Downstairs is the reception. Also, as in many dormitories, there are vending machines for cola, coffee. There's a printer-scanner.

In building "A" - 4 elevators. 1 of them is freight, 1 - for evacuation (however, it always works), 2 regular. During rush hours the elevator from the top takes quite long, this should be considered when planning your route.
Also, downstairs are the mailboxes.

We get in the elevator, go to the needed floor, in my case - 17.

Coming out of the elevator, we see long corridors, the layout is quite typical for dormitories.

Looking for the right door. Getting lost the first time is quite easy.

The doors are wooden, light. Near the door - a bell, unfortunately no peephole.
Right away it's worth mentioning a good feature of this dormitory. Perhaps this dormitory has the largest living space among student dormitories. The room consists of 3 parts - a corridor where closets are located, actually the room (beds, tables, shelves are there) and a common part - there's a kitchen, toilet, shower and washbasin.
It all looks approximately like this:

We go inside.

In the corridor we see closets. There's plenty of space for all clothes and shoes. Filling everything is very difficult. Let's go into the room.

The room is spacious, bright. Area - about 12 square meters. Furniture is quite old, but it doesn't really interfere. Beds are new, from 2008.

The fact that furniture is old can be added to the pluses, you can move it however you want, unlike the new dormitories in Poděbrady.
By the way, the windows are very large, plastic, but sometimes the wind blows. The wind in the dormitory area is quite strong. From the window opens a more or less beautiful view.

Let's go to the kitchen.

It's quite narrow here, 2 people will pass, but will interfere with each other.
Behind the first door - shower.

Condition - good, clean.

Toilet - also in normal condition.

Near the washbasin there's little space, things for 4 people fit tightly.

The main part is the kitchen. On the left - stove, quite old, not the best. Pay attention to the refrigerator - it's designed for 4 people, very small. We were lucky - our neighbors have their own in the room, so we have enough. The kitchen was quite dirty, but you can more or less wash everything. Cooking seems to work, but there's little space.
A place in the dormitory costs about 3400 crowns per month, depending on what electrical appliances you have. Another 100 crowns per month need to be paid for internet, here it's simply excellent, unlike the same Poděbrady.
The dormitory is quite quiet. Personally I didn't hear any noise at all, sometimes only outside students who came to study on exchange have fun. In the ÚJOP dormitory it was much noisier, but there children studied, here already - real students.
Also worth adding that downstairs there's also a canteen, however I haven't been there yet. They say it's not the best.
Also guests can move into the dormitory - 500 crowns per night for a single room, for a double - a bit more.
Summary
Pluses:
➕ price
➕ adequate residents, very quiet
➕ large living space
➕ excellent internet
➕ location almost in the center
➕ kitchen, shower, toilet not shared per floor
Minuses:
➖ nothing around
➖ far from Dejvice
➖ not the best condition of kitchen, furniture
➖ noise and dust from the roadway
Unfortunately, there's not much information about Charles University dormitories, so I'm glad I wrote at least a little :)
