Internet in dormitory in Poděbrady

Recently I was asked in the comments, what about the Internet in the dormitory? I decided to write a small note about this.

At the time when I first came to Poděbrady (mid-September 2013), there was no Internet as such in the dormitory. But by mid-October, Internet appeared.

Those who want to use the Internet need to buy a special card in the dormitory administrator's office. This card costs 200 crowns per month or 300 crowns for two months. On the card there will be a login and password for accessing the network. Before using the network, you'll need to configure the Internet connection.

There will be a website on the card that you need to go to. Having entered the login and password from the card there, you'll be automatically redirected to another page, where the Internet connection configuration will begin.

login and password on the card is "redacted", naturally

The site is in Czech. From what I could make out: you need to fill in the login and password again. Next - phone number (optional) and email. Then check the box agreeing to the terms of use and click the "pokracovat" button (continue). Most likely this is all the configuration.

Those who like to read - the instructions for connection in PDF (in Czech). Yes, those who want can decipher the name of the provider themselves. It seems to work throughout Czech Republic, which is good.

Internet speed is simply excellent, absolutely no complaints. I think in Russia I had about the same. Although I didn't measure it - by eye. And this is despite the fact that everyone in the dormitory uses it.

Reliability - it seems there are no interruptions, I don't remember the Internet disappearing. Although it could be.

Wi-Fi throughout the dormitory, the signal reaches well. I used both on the first and second floors - the signal was excellent. On the third floor, probably, too. More importantly - Wi-Fi reaches the farthest corners of the shower on the first floor, where I shower. This is a huge plus.

Of course, in such a configuration there can be disadvantages from cheap providers. I don't know about them yet, but most likely they'll appear.

Is 200 crowns a lot for Internet? I think not. This is not the cheapest, but also, by the way, not the most expensive Internet in the world. And for the Czech budget it's quite normal. Moreover, you can take for two months at once, which will be even cheaper.

Overall impression - everything is great for me personally. I'm very satisfied. I think the question about the Internet in Poděbrady dormitory is closed for everyone once and for all.
