Czech Pricing and Sushi

Not a single Russian tourist in Prague can understand Czech sushi pricing

Public catering in Russia is in very bad shape. Prices are very high, the concept of lunch menu is not known everywhere. And worst of all, today nobody really understands what "Russian cuisine" is anymore.

To understand better - an average lunch in Moscow will cost around 200-250 crowns, and a so-so dinner for two around 1000. Salaries in Moscow are somewhat lower and nobody even knows what a meal voucher is.

Probably the only way to get fed is shawarma (or Moscow-style shaurma) or Czech-style kebab, that costs OK.

But Russia is a cyka interesting state. We can cook one dish really well and cheaply. And it's not borscht. It's not even caviar, dude.

It's traditional Russian food - sushi.

Believe it or not - today it's the most popular food in Russia.

And this is one of those foods that every Russian in Prague longs for. Sushi is such a big Czech gastronomic disaster.

We order for some nonsensical money a kilo of rice, 50 grams of old salmon, cucumber and seaweed. Within a few hours damejidlo delivers it to you. And you have the opportunity to see the real madskillz of local samurais who can cook it so that 3 rolls fit into one small box. Together with some piece of lemon or wasabi that starts digesting the poor salmon.

Why this can easily cost two hundred, when some schnitzel that tastes ten times better costs maybe twice less - nobody knows.

In Russia for about 150 crowns you get a fair portion. It will taste good, it will be big, it will be cooked from fresh ingredients. And it's really weird that nobody in Russia can cook anything else.

I'm looking forward to someone from our chefs coming here and saving me. So far only bloggers come, but they don't know how to cook much.
