How Many Colors Does a Rainbow Have in Russia, Czechia and Japan

Another way to pick up a girl from Filda using your great knowledge and more.

When I was little, I started learning English so I could play Doom 2. Even then one thing seemed quite strange to me: why don't the English distinguish between light blue and dark blue.

101% of Russian-speaking people perceive these colors something like this:

It seems that both Czechs and Americans would call all of this "blue". There would certainly be someone who knows the words "sky blue" and "indigo", but they're nerds and not our competitors.

It's also interesting that there are studies showing that Russians perceive differences between these colors much faster than their American colleagues. It's interesting and a big topic about how your mother tongue defines how your brain works. I'll definitely write about this in time.

Back to the rainbows. I asked several Czechs how many colors a rainbow has. Someone says 6, someone 7. A Russian will definitely answer that it's 7. And the most interesting case is probably in Asia. For example, many Japanese don't understand (not as clearly as we do) the difference between green and blue. They have a word "aoi" for these purposes, which was historically translated roughly as "the color of grass and sky".

This is probably the reason why Japanese are so stupid and why Japan is so backward compared to Russia.
