Technology Love Cycles

Love for technology is always cyclical.

Radio appeared. Everyone liked it so much we shoved it into everything we could: both in the phone and in the shower. People appeared whose personality was built around radio: beautiful voice, smart words.

Singers appeared, programs, radio stations. Everyone loved radio until something better was found. Some people left radio, for example, for television. And there different things were valued: you can't be ugly there anymore.

Trust in people on radio became somehow less: probably afraid to appear in public, so they sit and broadcast. From love to hate just a couple decades.

But time passed and the previously loved technology didn't go anywhere. Radio is now in cars and at the dacha. The technology found its place and won't go anywhere anymore. From hate to finding meaning also a couple decades. We no longer have blind attraction and passion for everything from radio, now we have real love for the essence of radio.

Television appeared. Everyone loved it. Who can be better than a person from TV? Oh my God, it's Valdis Pelsh, I want his children.

But the internet appeared. Now only backward people watch TV, because you can't fight with TV people in the comments. The best people from TV went to the internet. From love to hate just a couple decades.

But the beloved technology didn't go anywhere. TVs still stand at home and in hotels. TV broadcasting happens when you don't know what to choose on Netflix and want someone to choose for you. The technology found its place.

The internet appeared. How everyone loved the internet. The best minds on the internet: no censorship, complete freedom.

But YouTube appeared. What are these bloggers all writing endlessly, afraid to show their face? Screw them, these lovers of writing articles, from love to hate 10 years.

But bloggers didn't go anywhere. There are things that are hard to talk about while simultaneously trading your face. The beloved technology is here, just now only those who know what its place in life is use it.

There's not one technology in this world that hasn't gone through the cycle of love, hate and finding real meaning.

There's not one person in this world who wasn't adored by the whole world, then shit on by the whole world, and then a couple of good people were found who could still understand them. Not love or hate, but understand.

Technologies are people, just not clothed in skin and bones as we're used to. First technology is a popular abstract idea. Then technology is a specific group of people separating themselves from others with this idea, and thereby causing stormy reactions. At the end of the cycle technology is the idea that shed the noise.

We treat technologies the way we've treated each other for millennia. First blind passion, then hatred from unmet expectations, and only with a good coincidence of circumstances do we get love. And love appears only for an object without noise around it.

Silence is a prerequisite of love.
