What's New on New Media?

For a whole week now I've been going "to school". Breaking all endurance records.
So what's interesting there?

I go to university on Monday, Tuesday and Friday. Unfortunately, my building is the only FF UK building that's not in the center. You need to go to "Jinonice" station, which is on the yellow line. Soon the metro will close for repairs, it'll be real pecka(Czech pecka; cool, awesome). Photo of the station as farewell.

And in mid-September I went to my faculty's party - they turned 10 years old, invited both former and future students (i.e. us). I decided to go only because I wanted to meet everyone in advance. Decided to overcome myself and for the first time in 25 years talk to people. Seems it worked out, we sat until almost night, got to know both teachers and each other. And can you brag that you drank beer with teachers even before classes started?

In short, I advise everyone who enrolled to immediately try to contact groupmates on Facebook and arrange meetings. Our faculty is famous for all sorts of interesting things, so teachers even organized a lottery. Anyone who wanted could buy a lottery ticket for 100 crowns. And the lottery ticket was a bottle of beer brewed by one of the graduates.

The beer, by the way, was very ok, decent APA. There were about 100 participants and 10 prizes. Prizes were very different, but mostly symbolic: 1-3 beers as a gift, breakfast\lunch\dinner with one of the teachers. For first place they even gave a Kindle reader. I didn't win anything, but my groupmates won beer, which I took :)

Recently on Friday we went as freshmen only to play board games and drink more beer at the establishment "Unijazz". Located right on Wenceslas Square, highly recommend, prices indecently low. The establishment is very hard to find, it's actually just a large apartment. By the way, I don't know where Czechs get such love for board games, but almost everyone plays them.

After 3 beers (beer in Czech Republic is countable, because who will drink only one?) I always start taking selfies. People are normal, though almost all the same ones came as at the first meeting :) Conclusion - better to get acquainted right away, because then everyone is lazy\scared.

Another interesting thing - one of our main teachers is now in Germany. We got out of the situation by conducting classes from home via video conference. We use the Zoom program. It looks something like this:

Having fun slowly. To be honest, I even like it better this way (you can be a maniac and look at everyone), though you can't really pick your nose properly.

That's kind of how life goes on new media. So far ok, generally fun.
