Krk

June 2020

That year I thought videos are better than articles, so my first (cringe) impressions can be watched below

That year I still couldn't swim and mainly hung out on the shore

Which you can do successfully (wild beach)

Already then I learned about the sour cream feature of Croatian pizzas

Plavotak beach

August 2022

Amazingly I liked Croatia, so I did something unusual for myself and returned to this city.
TLDR the main point of the city - you can swim in peace and beauty for relatively cheap. Info about beaches at the very bottom of the article

I couldn't swim (at all), but in the first year I learned to flounder in water, and by 2022 I was like pretending I could swim for real

From Prague it's about 11 hours, we drove again by car. Views from the Airbnb:

The city itself can be explained roughly like this: lots of rental houses, everything's so marine, narrow roads, German tourists, old center, sea, hotels, Anapa pizza for expensive

Despite the city being in the ass of the world, there's civilization here. Even internet worked at home, but with adventures. Home wifi was called "Perožić". When you connect to it, no internet, only local network.
I as a hacker could log into the router settings with the standard password. Vovan as a certified specialist changed the ethernet port. Internet worked. How the hell nobody before us fixed the internet or used it - a mystery.
Wifi with all this still dropped out every five minutes.

Center in the center

Entrance to the historic center

Someone felt bad in the sun

Street sign

This is what the whole old town looks like

Design

Attention to shutters - it's like this almost everywhere in the south, in the same Lyon, for example

Beauty of oldness

Ugliness of newness

Croatian-style

Sea everywhere three steps away

Park is beautiful, there's money in the city (not comparable to the same Zagreb)

After a week of swimming I have an Australian surfer on my head, all hair in salt

Feature of vacation in Croatia - pizzas everywhere. Feature of Croatian pizzas - a blob of sour cream on top. Nothing like this anywhere else.

Vibe of Croatian vacation. For full effect play sounds from Oktoberfest

First rule of Croatia - look at everything from afar

From afar everything's beautiful everywhere

Though up close it's Anapa

Gas station for boats

Tisak

Speaking of prices - you probably think Croatia = cheap. I hasten to disappoint you. Just because apartments here are a bit cheaper doesn't mean life here is cheaper. Computers, for example, are noticeably more expensive here than even in Prague.

Speaking of Croatia you can't not mention its main problem - roads
Features: very narrow. Often you just have to stop and look around.

Spoiler alert: if you were born Croatian, you can't stop, because it's a mortal sin. Speed for a Croat is like melancholy for a Russian.

This feature leads to a second one - parking here is very bad. Since the body can't allow standing still, they park anywhere.

Which sometimes slightly affects beauty

Oh yeah, need to clarify - there's no adequate transport here at all, so vacation only with a car

All apartments must have a sign with stars

Typical Krk:

Since the city is on an island, they sort trash here. If you look inside it becomes clear that not very successfully. But conscience is clear.

City is full of cats walking by themselves

And there's where to walk

Life starts in the evening. For example, here they were pole jumping. Looked maximally cringe: like in Anapa, one out of ten made it.

Outside the old city lots of graffiti

Instead of a sidewalk a painted line

City beach - in the evening in August you can swim, but on land it's cool

In the evening Krk is good, just noisy

Smart city trash cans

Good night, sweet Krk

Now about beaches on Krk island

Beach without a name with shade, parking free Croatian-style, if you come not late

Key feature - shade from trees

Can live

Mainly families with kids hang out

My top, basically

Stara Baška beach

Have to go down a hill, so less organized, parking just on the road

Everything's OK, fewer kids and grannies, can come

Plavotak beach

Located near a church, complete solitude

Also top

Baška beach, located by hotels, audience - fat grandpas. No space at all, parking only paid, basically - no point
