Wrocław

August 2026

A mini-ethnographic expedition through Poland. Not a single zapiekanka was harmed; weight gain: 2 kg
Kraków > Łódź > Poznań > Wrocław

Wrocław is suddenly wide and noisy for no apparent reason

Europe’s most high-tech bench has been discovered

It’s +40 outside

There’s literally nowhere to hide from the sun

After walking for 20 minutes, it became clear: I’d have to buy a transit ticket, no question

The city center is already more manageable

The university is like a museum

The city is just like any other city

When there are no cars, it’s actually not bad

There are really a lot of cyclists, just like everywhere else in Poland

There are quite a few tourists, too

Separate restrooms

In short, the city center is nice

I’ve never understood the point of this sign

Life-size figures—a sign of a moronic mayor

The first city where jerks on e-bikes are told to slow down

(they don’t listen)

A working mailbox at the post office—verified

A little about the trams

At half the stops, the smart scheduling system doesn’t work

Compared to Prague, the trams run extremely slowly and with long intervals

Main reasons: if they arrive early, they have to wait (as shown in the photo). Also, at traffic lights, they let everyone else go first—they have zero priority

The train station in the evening

To cross the street to the museum, you have to walk across the classic six lanes

But inside the museum, I found the trendiest radiator

Irony

Someone with a flair for design

A panorama of the battle (pictures + all sorts of debris and sand around). They’re beating the Russians and proud of it. About half the lecture is about how the battle was won, but the rest of the war was lost—a classic of the art of that era

The Market Square

Bar Mleczny (it was really hard to finish my meal)

The bridge to the island with the churches

The churches themselves

The ticket for the panorama grants free admission to several museums at once—a great deal

Tram stop—there are lots of routes, but you almost always have to wait a long time

Motorists here, just like throughout Poland and the Czech Republic, are absolute jerks

Because Skynet has won here

Gingerbread molds from the ethnographic museum

Right in the heart of Wrocław, people fancy the river

It’s beautiful and rich there

But the city center turned out to be unpleasantly touristy

Then it became clear why it was so crowded—it turns out there was a footbal final taking place here (visible in the distance)
