Few people know, but besides being a writer, singer, engineer, artist, linguist and traveler, in my free time I'm also a cybersportsman. Or, in Russian terms, I play games.
For the first time in 10 years this skill came in handy, I'll tell you what and how.
I recently wrote that I now work at a computer company called Microsoft. The second month is going on, and the essence of the work is to hang out and relax.
And also at Microsoft there are such people who are engaged in making sure guys like me aren't bored. And so, they decided to participate in an amateur Counter-Strike championship.
The essence of the championship is that Czech IT companies can participate. Companies chip in, and the profit goes to charity - namely, to buy TVs for children in hospitals.
Well, and in general, Microsoft didn't miss the opportunity and we went to play. The main condition was that only crooked-handed can participate - i.e. those who don't play professionally. I, thank God, fit that description, so I could play.
Who can find me among these cool guys? :)

So we gathered on Saturday morning and sat down to play. This is what the gaming hall looked like.

Everything's serious :) My guys mostly never really played, so I took on being captain, well, as usual.
Won the first game :) Went to give an interview, showed off a bit. Fortunately we were streamed on Twitch
update 2021
back then there were still games on Twitch
We lost the second game. The third was already for getting out of the group, won and got out :)
Well, in the quarterfinals we met the twisto.cz team (they do payment systems, cool guys). They tore us apart, so we had nothing left but to enjoy the free food :)
Anyway, it turned out normal. Looked at Czech companies, heard about new names.
Here's a photo of my team.

Well, and for those who want to ask me what's my secret, how did I get into Microsoft when I'm so stupid? I answer. The main thing is - 10 years non-stop grinding computer games. Your persistence will be noticed and it will pay off.
Here's proof straight from 2008 - I was already playing then.

Well, and by the way, the event raised about 160 thousand crowns (more than 6 thousand euros). What else do you need to know so that you finally stop living a normal life and go play games, like I do?
