How Does a Russian Marketer See a Czech? Horošečno.

You might be surprised, but in Russia people don't know much about Czechia. They don't even talk about it. But today I want to show you such a stereotypical image of a Czech from a beer advertisement.

The average Russian has a very poor idea of what today's Czechia looks like. Most young people, for example, don't even know about 1968 and that there is any philosophical conflict between the two states at all.

Therefore, Czechia is seen as such an old buddy who has a lot of beer and buildings like in Europe. People also go to Karlovy Vary mostly because someone's grandmother was there when she was young and supposedly it was really better than Sochi.

And yes, about beer. The term "Czech beer" sounds like "quality beer", which is OK. Kozel sells very well and we also know about Krušovice or, for unclear reasons, about the golden pheasant.

But in addition, there is quite an interesting product that is the child of inventive Russian marketers - "Žatecký gus" (yes, "gus", not goose).

This beer is normally sold as traditional Czech. And relatively recently an advertisement came out, starring - such a stereotypical Czech brewer, Mr. Gus.

He has a mustache, walks with a goose and is a good guy to the bone, so he always says "horošečno", which is "good" in Czech. Horošečno became a meme, so don't be surprised if you hear this, for example, in our favorite Karlovy Vary. Horošečno?
