Moscow is Moscow. Copenhagen is Kodaň.

You know what's probably the worst part of Czech for foreigners?

I studied Czech for one year in Poděbrady. I still remember almost every day, every mistake and every surprise.

I remember how on the first day I learned that "druhé patro" (second floor) is on the third Russian floor. I managed that.

I remember how guys from Guinea couldn't understand what a "case" is and why the teacher talks so often about those accusatives. We managed that too.

I've been in Czechia for the fifth year now. Plus-minus-bus I'm handling everything. But there's still one thing that nobody thinks much about, but you can simply recognize a foreigner by it.

Those are Czech toponyms.

Dude, how did Genova become Janov? What Kodaň??? Vratislav instead of Wroclaw? Drážďany instead of Dresden????? And a million more such examples, because of which I still don't know where my Czech buddies went on vacation.

Oh my god.
