In my opinion, one of the biggest crimes of modern interface design is push notifications.
I consider the most foolish those mobile apps that ask to enable push notifications immediately after installation. That is, I haven't even tried the app yet, and they're already trying to push something on me. I think that a person should spend at least a week with the app before they allow a notification.
Moreover, my policy is by default to deny all apps. Notifications should be only for those things that I really need. In general, for me that's phone calls, SMS and Telegram. I thought for a long time whether to enable notifications in Telegram, but there are also group chats where I don't read messages and don't care much, so I enabled only important messages.
Besides, the notification window on Android appeared long before iOS, which is why it's so hellishly convenient for me on Android. And I don't understand how people can switch to iOS with a phone call because of this notification center. This is a real app killer for me, especially if it's Apple Mail.
I can't stand the idea that some app will distract me every damn minute from what I'm doing. I think if someone wants to tell me something, they can simply write to me in Telegram. And I'll respond when I can.
But not during breakfast.
