Čáslav, Žleby

April 2014

Debts need to be fulfilled. I'm writing an article in October 2022 about how actively I partied in 2014 with the crew from Poděbrady

Žleby Castle

Well a castle is a castle

Until modern man came along, it was probably beautiful here

Ahead of trends by 8 years

The castle, as far as I remember, was about nothing (and that's quite easy to remember because all castles are about nothing)

But the surrounding nature is pleasant (in spring)

From a distance even the castle acquires meaning

I don't even remember if it was open in the end or not

It's always been interesting to meet Czech grandpas with non-white children. Racism in Czechia is a poorly understood topic. Many don't even manage to think about skin color in their whole life - almost everyone here is white. A bit of diversity was brought by Vietnamese back in the day and Kazakhs in our time. Mass immigration of darker people hasn't happened yet, so in a pinch Czechs will call a Roma person "black", even though it's stupid (they're not darker than me after I go out in the sun for a day). Roma, interestingly, don't mind calling themselves black or colored. Apparently for the gangster charm that comes with "blackness".
In other words, dark skin color here will attract a lot of attention, both desirable and not so much

Near the castle there's its own zoo, about nothing, like all castles and zoos

Here for example you can find 10 differences between your balls and not your balls

Lovers of discussions about alphas and omegas can find an interlocutor here

Or here

"Landscape" translates to Czech as "krajina", in my opinion all Czech nature is well conveyed by this word

Čáslav

One of the nearest castles turned out to be the town of Čáslav. Čáslav is feminine, not masculine, which is hard for a Russian ear (for better understanding keep in mind "Časlavь")

In 2014 the town was a terrible hole

There were quite a lot of Roma on the street

By appearance Čáslav didn't differ at all from the likes of Kolín or Nymburk

The only difference is that it's hell to get here. This, by the way, is about how Roma betray absolutely all their nomadic traditions and constantly live in the cheapest towns. And such towns tend to have extremely shitty transport accessibility. Rich Czechs commute to Prague every day, poor Roma sit on a bench by the house. That's the irony of the times.
