Chartres

August 2017

During my France tour I traveled non-stop for almost a week. On the last day I finally wore blisters on my heels.
Learn from my mistakes:

For these reasons it was decided to go to the city of Chartres - the only big city to which a direct train ran from Rambouillet. The train goes about 40 minutes, I could endure such a short walk.

Otherwise I wouldn't have gotten here, and that's a shame.

First thing a tourist sees

Rain just passed, it'll be damp outside for 5 minutes. France dries in 5 minutes always

Chartres is famous for its cathedral. Nothing else about Chartres is even said in Wikipedia

Turned out Chartres should be famous for its greenery

And the general vibe of a quiet French town with history

Could shoot movies here

And there are no tourists at all

Standard street signs

Modern lighting (probably ugly white light)

Working bookcase

France

The city started surprising with details

The cathedral - as it turned out, not the main thing at all

The main thing is the vibe of the old town, which has a love for life

You won't find such signs in another city

Though in the city there are no tourists, nor people under 40

The city is still terribly beautiful

Even if you move away from the center

Such love for details doesn't exist anywhere else

Exhaust hole

Would you want to live like this?

Would you want to sit like this?

Would you want to live with such women nearby?

Or with such locks?

Or with such streets?

I would want to

Shame that nobody knows about Chartres

The city definitely enters my personal top not just of France, but of Europe in general
