This note will be short, and in it I'll write what you should buy in Prague IKEA (or in any other similar store) immediately upon arrival and how much it all will cost.
The list, of course, is debatable, but it was compiled by me even before the trip and, in principle, justified itself.
So, here's a list of what we bought.
- large blue bag (for convenient transportation, will also be useful in the future)
- frying pan
- set of plastic spoons for stirring
- good expensive chef's knife :)
- grater (it's also, at the same time, a small container)
- larger container for food storage
- vegetable peeler
- garlic press (not necessary, but helps a lot when cooking)
- beer bottle opener :)
- couple of deep plates
- couple of mugs (large, for tea\coffee)
- couple of plastic glasses (for water etc.)
- colander
- trivets for hot items and pot holders
- famous aluminum can for storing and drying cutlery :)
- doormat
- towel hooks
- something else small, including chocolates and juices in the local grocery store
All this cost slightly more than 1600 crowns.
Then for an experiment we went into the local Poděbrady store and bought there:
- pot
- 2 forks\spoons each
- small knife
There the purchase was more expensive, we paid about 400 crowns for all this.
In the local textile store we also bought towels: 2 for body, 1 small and 1 kitchen, all very nice :) They cost 330 crowns, in IKEA you could find cheaper, but not much.

Eventually, over time in the local Tesco supermarket we bought small thermoses (100 crowns each) and a large blanket for bed (220 crowns). By the way, a large-sized blanket was not easy to find.
On this, perhaps, I'll finish. As you can see, to settle in well, a couple of students will need about 3000 crowns for two. The amount is considerable, but it seems that everything bought is quite durable, after almost 3 months of use, there were no complaints about quality.
