Recently I was in Polish Krakow and visited Schindler's museum.
This museum is dedicated to the times of German occupation of Krakow, and well-known events from the movie "Schindler's List".
In the museum there were many exhibits like letters from those times. Naturally, things confiscated from Jews, letters evoke sad feelings.
But for some reason it was especially unpleasant to see this:

This is a sign "Krakow main station" in German. And for some reason it's precisely this sign that births a whole story in my head.
Well, and actually, this once again shows how you can use visual communication for your purposes - bad and good. Any design, colors and shapes always carry a whole spectrum of meta-messages. Any inscription can birth both a whole explosion of backstories (as in my case), and not evoke any emotions.
