Street signs in French cities

France is a beautiful and interesting country, and today I would like to tell about it in my own way.

I love looking at urban details, so we'll talk about street signs that I saw in different cities of France.

I'll start with Paris. In Paris you'll see classic green-blue signs. The district number is written on top - there are 20 of them in Paris.

By the way, a feature of signs throughout France - sometimes at the bottom they write who the street is named after and what the person did. For example, historian Michelet.

Then I ended up in the city of Lyon (Fr. Lyon). Here, mainly only standard blue signs are found, such are found throughout the country.

Then I ended up in the famous city of Le Mans (Fr. Le Mans), where races are held. Here the signs look different, brown-ochre.

Then I visited the city of Rennes (Fr. Rennes). Usually dark blue signs hang here.

But there's one feature. Since Rennes is located in northern France in the Brittany region, sometimes signs are duplicated in Breton language. Pay attention, for example, to the word "straed", street. Where else will you see Breton in life? :)

Then I found myself in the city of Rouen (Fr. Rouen). Here, in principle, nothing interesting - mainly black text on white background. By the way, this style of house construction is called "half-timbered", and there are also many such houses in Rouen.

The last city on my list was the little-known city of Chartres (Fr. Chartres).

At first nothing foreshadowed trouble, ordinary blue text on white background.

However, I accidentally came across a unique sign - someone drew it by hand.

I started looking closely. It turned out that this beauty hangs on almost all streets in the center.

On this note, perhaps, I'll end my story.

Naturally, I don't think I fully covered the topic, because I only visited a couple of cities.

Sometimes, for example, it happens that on one particular street you'll find something unique, but there's no pattern in this.

For example, old street names in Paris:

Or beautiful signs on the main streets of Le Mans:
