Udine

July 2025

This city was visited as part of an expedition to see various old European prisons
The following cities were visited:
London, Reading, Milan, Padua, Venice, Udine, Sagrado, Gorizia, Nova Gorica, Brno

Surprisingly, Italy turned out to be quite a railway power. Trains run, enough space, fast, cheap

Especially in northern Italy. Traveling is a pleasure

Udine greeted with a bit of chaos

20 minutes on foot, decent Airbnb almost in the center

Found a park nearby. Next to the park ice cream. Italian saleswoman chatted with us in French, her daughter worked in France. Said there's little work in Italy. Gave a whole bunch of ice cream

Library in the ass-end

Center, pleasant, peculiar

Russian speech, by the way, is very common. In France much less. Glad local schoolgirls learn all the important words

Views from the museum, museum very dull

Classic Italian complaint hole

Fake prison ✅

Reminded me of Padua, but different vibe

Center

Most memorable from the trip: turned out in all churches speakers of the same type, and in this one - also special color. Always interesting who can be such a supplier for Catholics (later the speaker was discovered in my university in Prague too, but not such fancy colors)

In the center in Italy, in principle, can eat

But Italian cafes - are 90% cringe

Ate pizza, nothing surprising, quite tasty

Udine worked, but not to that degree where really wow
