April 2023
This journey took place as part of the Benelux birthday eurotour, during which I visited:
Sinsheim - Karlsruhe - Ausfahrt - Luxembourg - Namur - Liège - Brussels - Dunkirk - Antwerp - Leidschendam - The Hague
We watched a movie about Dunkirk. And since for several years after Ryan Gosling by plane, or whatever it was, sexy guys haven't visited Dunkirk, I decided to sacrifice myself and make the residents happy. The parking lot by the stairs has a sign with stairs

Dunkirk is all neat like this

But no people

Perhaps for the same reasons why Terezín isn't popular in Czechia, like, reminds of war

The beach from the movie, somewhere there is Great Britain

Kids of all colors run into the water

In Dunkirk there's some special foam

Kids run to swim, and outside it's barely 10 degrees and harsh wind

Everything's groomed, but for tourists it's still a bit cold

I thought Dunkirk was a city purely about the coast

And ships

Turned out there's a lot more interesting stuff in the city, for example, concrete walls imitating wood

New neighborhoods are being built

Looks dead for now, but I'd want to have a summer cottage by the sea here

Yup

Street signs

Many apartments for sale in the city. This region of France is quite poor

And the city center turned out to be wildly lively

Hard to believe, but about a hundred thousand people live here

And completely free transport

French life

Same panel buildings we have, just with stress on the last syllable

Conclusion about the city: dying here is just the thing, living here - won't rush yet
